Kat and Courtney’s evening reception at Bedingham’s Farm Barn was an absolute belter of an evening.
I’d been looking forward to this one. It’s a very local venue to me in the middle of the Cambridgeshire Fens, and I’d not been here since Sarah and Bryan’s wedding before the Covid lockdowns. I love working here.
The only thing worrying me was the playlist.
Having had a phone chat with Kat a couple of weeks previous to the wedding, there was to be a lot of hardcore clubland music involved.
Whilst I’ve got no problem with pretty much any type of music, hardcore clubland is one of those genres I don’t play an awful lot and was well and truly out of my comfort zone with. I actually needn’t have worried on that score and it all worked a treat!
Expect the unexpected!
We started proceedings with the first dance (Stuck on You by Lionel Richie) and then did something nether myself or the photographer have ever done before – something called a table dash.
This involves all guests going back to their tables whilst the bride and groom run around the venue letting the photographer take a photo at each table with the guests pulling funny faces. OK – something so zany needs the music to back it up, and the Benny Hill theme tune was used as they scrambled around the venue along with running commentary from yours truly. It worked really well and really kept me on my toes!

In the event, I needn’t have been quite so worried about the playlist as I was.
We started the evening with more “traditional” music to cater for the age ranges of the guests present, and only went into the harder stuff later on.
The end result was a full dance floor for pretty much most of the evening!
