As a DJ, there’s nothing quite like a “Retro” wedding. The sounds and lights of yesteryear, guests enjoying the evening, and the sense of occasion that goes with all weddings.
Maxine and Graham’s evening reception was actually an “after-party” as happens a lot lately. They’d done the deed and got married several weeks before the party and used the evening as a very relaxed and informal party.
I like these types of wedding receptions a LOT! Especially when they’re in one of my favourite local venues.
What do I mean by "Retro"?
Behold, the Retro Roadshow. A genuine disco lighting system as used in the 1980’s and early 1990’s . There are no computers or LED chips controlling this thing!
Seeing the playlist Maxine had started building on my online planning portal, I offered her and Graham the opportunity of the Retro setup and the decision was made.
The evening saw a full dance floor for the duration, with hits mainly from the 80s as requested, mixed in with some more modern tunage for the younger guests. All in all, a damned good night!
Some photos of the action
For some reason, I didn’t actually take that many photos (not like me). Hopefully those below give a flavour of how the evening went though
And so to the playlist
