I’d been looking forward to this one for a very long time! And it was well worth the wait.
Deanna & Kyle booked me over a year before their big day for afternoon MC services and as their evening DJ in a venue I love and sadly haven’t been to for far too long.
I love being a part of the longer day because it gives me the chance to get to know the guests rather than just turning up and pressing play on the music side of things.
So what does an afternoon MC do?
It varies from wedding to wedding!
In the case of Deanna and Kyle’s big day my role was to help the photographer in getting people ready for their shots, and assisting guests with where they needed to be and when…harder than it might sound.
I also had the job of bringing Deanna and Kyle into the wedding breakfast with a “grand entrance”.
Entrance done and everyone eating, my main jobs for the rest of the day include introducing the speeches and assisting guests. It’s also time to take a small break and grab a bite to eat for myself (it’s a long day after all).
Eventually, we got to the end of the wedding breakfast and decanted the guests to the outside of the venue to play crazy golf whilst the venue staff did the room turnaround and I set up the disco equipment for the evening shenanigans.

Deanna and Kyle had been very specific from the outset that the music selections were to be their choices. Requests were not to be allowed, and that’s perfectly OK – it was their day after all.

Sadly being a Monday night, the guests drifted off earlier than hope to get ready for work/school the next morning and we didn’t get the big finish and “circle of love” we’d all hoped for.
Nevertheless, Deanna and Kyle were more than happy with the way things had gone, and in my book….that’s what matters!
